The national organization “Academy of Western Artists” recognized local artist Starla Queen for her song “Show Me” as song of the year at the 12th annual “Will Rogers Award" held August 7th in Garland, TX.

After having been nominated by a national jury, Starla & the Jazzabillies were carried through several rounds of jury voting that ultimately yielded three top ten nominations in three separate artist award categories. The semi-final round of voting narrowed the field to the top five nominees in the nation for each category. The Jazzabillies made the top five in all three categories. In addition to Song of the Year; Starla Queen was included in the top 5 for national Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year and the Jazzabillies Cd “Show Me” also made the top 5 nominees for Cd of the Year.

It is a real honor for Starla to receive western swing song of the year and to be included in the final nominees in the additional categories.

To be nationally recognized with names such as Lightcrust Doughboys, Tommy Allsup, Texas Playboys, Red Steagall, Riders in the Sky, Asleep at the Wheel, Time Jumpers, and various other Western Swing legends is truly a great honor.
